Join Horticulturist Janine Potter to dig into growing your own abundant veg garden.

Learn about seasonality, when what and how to seed, pot up, plant out and care for your veg. This is a practical and hands-on skills workshop! All levels of experience welcome!

This is a ‘Pay as you Feel’ event to thank Janine for her time and knowledge, and to make it accessible to everyone.

A bit about Janine:

Janine Potter is a professional horticulturist with a passion for the natural environment, permaculture, composting, plants, seed saving, community gardening, cooking and crafts.Her journey began studying animal care and graduating in environmental science, but she also had an underlying passion for gardening from an early age and decided to pursue a career in horticulture.

Janine is a fully qualified and insured self- employed Master of Horticulture, trained at Royal Horticulture Society Wisley. She has a wealth of knowledge and experience in many different areas of horticulture and has worked with all ages and abilities in many different settings over the last 20 years including market gardens, kitchen gardens, school and college gardens, community gardens, private estates and home gardens.

Passionate about the environment and permaculture, protecting the planet, ecology and sustainability and nourishing and supporting people, Janine is a member of the Shropshire Organic Gardeners and Shropshire Good Food Partnership. She cares deeply about promoting, demonstrating and supporting people to grow diverse, nutrient dense food or to source it locally and ecologically sustainably.

Janine is an advocate for open pollinated, non-GM seed is a member of the heritage seed library, growing and saving seed in their citizen science projects. She has also grown and saved seed, organising seed swap events and raised funds for charities. She is a Master Composter for Garden Organic, demonstrating and encouraging others to compost their food waste and build healthy soil in their gardens.

Janine specialises in:

-Teaching horticulture, sustainably and ecologically for people and planet

-Designing and developing horticulture gardening programmes for children, young people and adults/elders

-Horticulture as therapy and for SEND

-Plant identification, propagation, plant care, soil health, composting, harvesting and storing/preserving produce, seed saving.
