Temperate rainforests are globally important habitats found in mild climates with particularly high rainfall and humidity. Rarer even than their tropical counterparts, they are rich in biodiversity, supporting populations of epiphytic ferns, mosses and liverworts.
While remnants of rainforest survive in western Britain, they are threatened by deforestation and overgrazing.
My border encapsulates a regenerating rainforest, underplanted with native British flora, with the aim of raising awareness of these magical woodlands and the need to protect them.
Connecting with these natural spaces also provides inspiration for our gardens, from the sculptural quality of deadwood to the lush beauty of moss.
