The Garden of Many Hands is a spring woodland Beautiful Border inspired by an original New Forest folk tale, written by the people we support at Minstead Trust, imagining the origins of Furzey Gardens. The border tells a story of a garden created, lost, and renewed through shared care.
The design will feature seasonally appropriate spring woodland planting in a harmonious palette of blues, purples, and whites, with occasional bright accents to highlight moments of hope and renewal. The planting will include plants and specific cultivars for which Furzey Gardens is well known, reflecting its distinctive character and horticultural heritage. Natural and upcycled materials and layered planting will demonstrate sustainable, creative design within a small space. A handcrafted fairy house, designed and made by the people supported by Minstead Trust, will act as a focal point and storytelling element. Inclusive layout and clear visual flow will ensure the border is accessible and engaging, celebrating collaboration, wellbeing, and creativity.
We plan to rebuild the border within Furzey Gardens so it can be enjoyed by many more people in the future.
