About this garden

The story

A Space to Read Balcony Garden sponsored by Viking is an external reading room for passionate gardeners to take a seat for a little while to read or tend to their collection of much-loved plants. The design aims to evoke the feeling of an intimate and tranquil sanctuary, a space to get lost among plants while reading. Simple materials combine with a verdant and harmonious planting scheme. The brick design on the back wall is reminiscent of a library, with a bookshelf created from a timber inlay. The use of natural wood is a nod to the paper used in books. The garden features two small shelves for pots and storing books There are comfortable armchair seats for sitting and reading and subtle lighting to allow the user to enjoy reading in the evenings.
