Charleston 250

Charleston 250

Charleston 250
Charleston 250 embodies the timeless beauty and elegance of one of America’s founding cities, Charleston in South Carolina. The design of the garden aims to be rich in detail and grace, combining the formality of the classic English garden with the influences of The Preservation Society Charleston, a 1920s body that protects the charm and character of this historical city. This garden showcases reclaimed brickwork, antique iron railings, water features and a sculpture, alongside intricate landscaping details such as the inclusion of crushed shells in mortar joints and beautifully laid, reclaimed brick pathways and pillars to enhance its authenticity and structure. The garden also features a single-story building – a Charleston Freedman’s Cottage, reminiscent of one of the city’s early traditional buildings. A stunning marble statue will take centre stage creating a visual focal point and has been inspired by ‘The Nymph’ statue, which is positioned in one of Charleston’s most celebrated gardens, Middleton Place, America’s oldest formal gardens.
