Like the cars we drive, we may need smaller, more accessible gardens that are easier to manage. The design underscores, however, that when it comes to downsizing there is no need for compromise; you can have it all – be that in a car or a garden. It demonstrates how even in a relatively small space, it is possible to enhance comfort, improve wellbeing, encourage mobility and social interactions, and increase sustainability. This is illustrated through the accessible footpath which links multiple seating areas – from the covered pergola with timber organic bench, to the dining area, outdoor kitchen, and sun-trapping oval patio. Brick green walls and raised planters are vertically accessible and feature lush, easy to maintain planting that provides an everlasting holiday feel to the space.
