The sculpture ‘Head full of Dreams’ by Simon Higgins triggered a response with me that acting and living those dreams is so important for my own mental health. I work in an industry with the highest rate of male suicide and have been involved in many sessions where we are encouraged to recognise the state of our own mental health and reach out for support. Over the past 12 months I strengthened my mental health by pushing myself out of my comfort zone, learning new skills which included the RHS Level two courses and a course in garden design.
I’m experimenting using a theme with a single primary colour as the base and bringing in variation through form, height, texture and tonal variations. Blue is recognised as a calming colour, allowing calming of the mind to give you the space to reconnect with yourself and to start living with your dreams. My centerpiece sculpture has been inspired by ‘Head full of Dreams’ by Simon Higgins.
