Fingal Nurturing Communities Through Nature

Sponsored by Fingal County Council, this large garden embraces the growing movement towards community gardening. It is designed as a welcoming place, where residents can meet their neighbours, build connections, and reconnect with nature.  

 The garden's primary aim is to encourage residents to grow seasonal produce together, while encouraging the development of gardening skills, plant knowledge, and a strong sense of community. At its centre, a large canopy structure and propagation house is a gathering point for the sharing of seeds, skills, and stories. Accessibility and inclusion are central to the design, with raised planters at varying heights enabling people of all ages and abilities to take part.  

 Fingal is pioneering the development of community gardens to support the needs of its expanding and diverse communities. Following Bloom, the garden will relocate to the historic Brackenstown Walled Garden in Swords, where a community gardening group will be established.
