This commemorative garden celebrating 90 years of Met Éireann invites visitors to explore our changing climate, while also paying tribute those who monitor, interpret, and communicate Ireland's atmosphere with such dedication.
At the garden's foundation, a native birch woodland frames a meadow and wetland that shift subtly with the seasons. Resilient planting and thoughtful design offer moments to pause and reflect, revealing how careful observation, adaptation, and understanding shape our connection to the natural world and guide our response to the changing climate.
The design is inspired by the science, expertise, and continuous 24-hour observations of the Met Éireann team. An oversized umbrella symbolises the rain that nourishes our landscapes and gives Ireland its 40 shades of green. Weather instrumentation of the past and present, including Stevenson screens, rain gauges, and sunshine recorders, quietly mark 90 years of observations.
