The garden explores colour therapy and impact of colour on human perception. Planting is laid out to reference a colour wheel, but in a 3D dimensional space, with contrasting leaf textures, shapes and flower colours for maximum impact.
Fibreglass planters are made from a blend of recycled plastic and recycled glass, making them durable to environmental conditions. Seating is immersed among the planting to take full advantage of the therapeutic effects of being connected to nature.
The aim of the garden is to be grounded in the moment to mindfully observe plants and colour which can enhance mood and benefit mental wellbeing.
After the show the garden will be relocated to Haven House Children’s Hospice, Woodford Essex. It will be integrated into a sensory garden that I am currently designing. The hospice provides; day care, over-night stays, end of life care, bereavement support, as well as life enriching activities such as sensory play, music therapy and physiotherapy.
