Returning To My Roots

This year marks my 25th year working in horticulture, but the story really began long before I knew what the word meant. It began with my Grandad. Some of my earliest memories are sitting beside him in the garden reflecting on life with a cuppa and biscuit in hand. The garden was a captivating space full of wonderment, and of connection and contemplation. I learned that gardening isn't instant, that mistakes are part of learning, and that the best results come from care, consistency, and time. Eventually, my horticultural journey led me to training and assessing others entering the industry. Every learner I support, every qualification achieved, feels like another seed planted for the future of horticulture. The plants may change, and the roles may evolve, but the roots of my journey remain firmly planted in those early days, gardening with Grandad.
