Seedlings, Saplings, Trees: A passage through a lifecycle

This show garden demonstrates lifecycles, growth, change and connection to past and future generations across time.

Trees are integral to natural systems and gardens. In the garden they create nostalgic markers overtime, sanctuary and places for inspiration and wellbeing.

In systems they promote health from the ground up providing services to soil, other plants, wildlife and air at every point in their lifecycle. Trees are part of a system where everything is important and contributes to each other.

The Downing College armillary represents relationships bigger than the earth itself, and cycles of sunrise, sunset and day lengths that we can take for granted.
