Sensed, Not Seen

Sensed, Not Seen

Sensed, Not Seen is more than a garden. It is an accessible garden designed to invite to pause, imagination and connection with the world of those living with a visual impairment, whilst initiating conversation and raising awareness.

This sensory garden celebrates the senses beyond sight, offering safety, accessibility, and joy to all who enter. Every element has been thoughtfully designed for blind and visually impaired visitors to connect deeply with nature.

A firm, level pathway will safely lead you to two destinations: one, a sensory planter inviting you to touch, smell, listen and taste; the other, a calm seating area beneath a jasmine-draped archway. Around you, vibrant flowers burst with colour, while water features and wind chimes create a soothing soundscape. Here, gardening becomes a truly shared experience for everyone.

With thanks to Freya Gallagher; Student of Design at the University of Cambridge for bringing the design to life with her illustration.
