About this garden

The story

The concept of the garden is to give those suffering from long Covid an accessible, restorative space. Key features include a multi-stem tree with public messages of support and remembrance written on metallic circles, hanging from its branches. Beneath this tree lies a sculpture inspired by the spike protein anatomy of Covid-19, representing patients’ victory and emerging recovery. There is also a large transparent arbour and a rain garden fed by a steel rill, supplying water through its spout once the water reaches a certain level. The garden’s shape and design are inspired by the medical insignia caduceus. The woodlands surrounding the designer’s Chiltern home provided inspiration for the overall feel of the garden.
