A celebration of North Norfolk's traditional crafts and heritage, this nature-friendly design takes visitors on a journey from inland wildflower meadows and tangled hedgerows to windswept dunes.
The border moves away from traditional flat surfaces. Instead, it incorporates mounded berms and shallow swales, which capture rainwater and filter it slowly to protect soil health during summer droughts or heavy downpours. Built using reclaimed red bricks, these features pay homage to the iconic decorative chimneys of Norfolk's stately homes.
A central willow-woven planter hosts a sculptural Pinus sylvestris 'Watereri', while a low 'crinkle-crankle' hurdle weaves through the border. The naturalistic planting combines wildflowers with resilient performers such as Scabiosa, creating a mosaic of varied textures inspired by coast and meadow that boost soil health, increase biodiversity and support pollinators.
