The garden 'Umbrellas' takes inspiration from the cult French film 'The Umbrellas of Cherbourg' which featured an ebullient colour design, an all sung narrative and a bitter sweet love story.
The garden features two garden rooms, two entrance arches and canopies of strung umbrellas. Bradstone products are used to provide cobble effect paths and faux wood flooring in the rooms. Ready hedge product will bound the side and back of the garden. The bold colour scheme in the hard landscaping mimics the films use of enervating colour. Turning normal design practice on its head the planting is restrained featuring a matrix of grasses punctuated with jewel like dots of colour. The inclusion of some spiky plants hints that the course of true love is rarely smooth
