About this garden

The story

The garden is inspired by Willow, a national charity providing special days for seriously ill young adults aged 16-40  This garden design is inspired by my own special day as a beneficiary of Willow, and the impact Willow had on me. The symbolic river of memories consists of everlasting flowers leading to a calm oasis by the willow tree. Every plant chosen, symbolises words and emotions important to special day beneficiaries: hope, uplifting, grateful, calm. Each stepping stone represents the journey of hope and a reminder that connections are built on shared experiences and memories that will last a lifetime. My entry is to raise awareness for Willow a national charity who provide special days and experiences for seriously ill young adults aged 16-40 of which I am both a beneficiary and a volunteer champion. The charity was founded by Bob Wilson OBE and his late wife Megs in memory of their daughter Anna who died from a rare form of cancer at just 31 years old.
