Plant and garden design nursery
We are an award-winning specialist plant nursery near Pulborough in West Sussex, with a reputation for designing, planting, and maintaining exceptional gardens. We are looking for a talented and hard-working individual to join us as our new Assistant Garden Designer.
You will join our incredible team of plant experts, helping to create breathtaking planting designs using some of the most amazing plants found on the planet.
At Architectural Plants, we have a bold vision and a defined style. We are determined to unleash the potential in all our customers’ gardens. We rarely work with drawings; instead, we design on the ground in consultation with our customers. We find this approach more exciting, creative, and organic, and we use our beautiful nursery to help customers visualise our designs. Full internal and external training will be provided in this approach.
You will work closely with our existing team of designers in the creation of AP gardens by assisting with site visits to gardens and customer visits to our nursery. You will build your knowledge of our plant range, learn our stock system, and help develop planting designs. You will liaise with customers, as well as our nursery, dispatch, and planting teams, to ensure designs are installed smoothly and efficiently.
The ideal candidate will not only have a passion for plants but also a practical understanding of how gardens are put together.
We are looking for somebody with:
Excellent plant knowledge, alongside an understanding of plant combinations for a range of garden types and terrains.
At least 2 years’ experience in a similar role, working in design, soft landscaping, or horticultural sales.
Impeccable communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to provide that ‘Wow Factor’ in every interaction, both with customers and colleagues.
Unrivalled professionalism — efficient, positive, and precise in everything they do.
The ability to work under pressure, managing multiple designs and quotations simultaneously, delivering high-quality results every time.
Knowledge of design software may be helpful, but more importantly, the ability to quickly impress customers with visuals using Photoshop, AI, or other digital techniques would be hugely beneficial.
A good level of education and/or qualifications — preferably in design, horticulture, or a related field.
If you are looking for total job satisfaction and believe you can impress our customers and help deliver their dream garden, then apply here.
