We are looking for a qualified Garden Designer to join us on a freelance basis, working remotely to develop thoughtful, high-quality garden designs for our clients.

Role Overview
As a Freelance Garden Designer, you will work on a project-by-project basis, creating bespoke garden designs aligned with client briefs and site constraints. You will be responsible for concept development, 2D and 3D plans, planting plans, and presenting your concepts and ideas clearly and professionally.

This role offers flexibility while allowing you to contribute to a variety of exciting design projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Work remotely to create tailored garden designs based on client briefs

• Conduct virtual site analysis using client-provided information, photographs, OS mapping, and other online survey data

• Develop concept plans, planting schemes, and 3D visuals

• Use Vectorworks, SketchUp, AutoCAD, or similar software to create professional 2D and 3D drawings

• Prepare planting plans, material specifications, and layout drawings

• Communicate design ideas effectively through clear and engaging presentations

• Adapt designs based on client feedback to ensure satisfaction

Requirements

• Garden design qualification (essential) — RHS, degree, or diploma in garden or landscape design

• Proficiency in garden design software — Vectorworks, SketchUp, AutoCAD, or similar

• Strong knowledge of planting design, hard landscaping, and sustainable garden principles

• Experience creating professional design presentations

• Excellent remote communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively via email and documentation

• Ability to work independently and manage project timelines

• Familiarity with UK plant species and climate considerations

• Knowledge of garden construction methods and cost estimation (desirable)
