Job Description:

As a Graduate Garden Designer in the Arne Maynard Garden Design studio you will have a supporting role in the design development and implementation of a diverse range of private landscape projects in the UK, USA and Europe. Under the guidance of our senior designers, and working alongside the wider team, a Graduate Garden Designer will assist with the development of various garden designs through all work stages, from inception through to completion. The dynamic studio environment requires a proactive approach to the work along with the versatility to develop creative and technical skills. A meticulous attention to detail will be required to deliver bespoke designs that balance aesthetics and function. Under the direction of the senior team, you will work to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the highest quality, all to achieve an excellent service for our clients. You may be assigned a custom role within the studio with specific responsibilities that are in addition to the main duties below. Project Requirements × Assist the Design Team across all work stages with a focus on design development and support project managers in overseeing the garden build. × Assist the Design Team in the preparation and organisation of graphical information to review design development with the Principal Designer and Design Associate. × Assist in the production of reports, documents, drawings, details and specifications for planning applications and construction contracts. × Assist with project research to specify materials, including sourcing samples. × Assist the design team with client liaison. × Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team through confident and clear communication, including studio designers, consultants, suppliers and contractors. × Adhere to project programmes, ensuring work deadlines are achieved. × Contribute to the financial tracking of procured items for projects such as, but not limited to, trees, plants, furniture and antiques. × Attend regular site visits in the UK and Internationally to take meeting minutes, document existing site conditions, review design work and review construction progress. × Complete daily timesheets, in line with the company’s project management systems, to ensure timely invoicing. Company Requirements × Comply with all company policies, procedures, and systems. × Comply with and maintain an organised approach to file management in accordance with company quality standards. × Keep detailed records and information, including written notes, photographs and videos, in line with the company quality standards. × Assume the appropriate level of responsibility for Health and Safety within the studio for other members of the team. Professional Requirements × Qualification in Garden Design or equivalent × Maintain excellent horticultural and plant knowledge, ideally RHS Level 2. × Attend training as required to support continued professional development. × A working knowledge or a willingness to learn all software relevant to the role; – Project Management Software – CMap – CAD – Vectorworks – Modelling – SketchUp – Rendering – Lumion – Sketching – Procreate – Publication – Adobe Suite – Documentation – Microsoft Office Suite Personal Requirements × Responsible, hard-working and self-motivated with aptitude for collaborative working. × Strong time management and organisation skills to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines. × Always represent the company in a professional manner with a friendly demeanour. × Passionate about gardens and plants. × Excellent verbal and written skills, fluent spoken and written English. × Eligible to work within the UK, with relevant visas. × Flexible and adaptable to travel in the UK and internationally for extended periods. × A clean and valid driving licence, to enable site and research visits in remote locations.
