Senior Garden Designer / Landscape Architect
The brief
Ann-Marie Powell Gardens Limited is an award-winning landscape design studio based in Petersfield, Hampshire, on the edge of the South Downs National Park. Led by Ann-Marie Powell FSGLD, the studio has spent nearly three decades working across private residential gardens, luxury hotel and spa landscapes, historic and listed estates, commercial spaces, show gardens, and international commissions. No two projects are the same, and no two weeks look alike. We are a small, close-knit team who work collaboratively at every stage, and we care about both the quality of the work we produce and the way we work together. Our studio philosophy is Bold, Vibrant, Biodiverse. We also believe that good garden design should be accessible to everyone, which is why alongside our full design service we offer small project services for those working with more modest budgets. We always revert to the principle of: Plants, People, Place, Purpose.
Awards and Recognition
Our credentials include RHS Chelsea Gold medals (2010, 2015), RHS Chelsea Silver-Gilt 2024, the BBC People’s Choice Award and inaugural RHS Children’s Choice Award 2024, the American Horticultural Society Environmental Award, the SGLD Award for Best UK Commercial or Community Landscape (2022), the SGLD People’s Choice Award (2022), the SGLD Best International or UK Commercial Landscape Award (2021), the SGLD Best Hardscape Design Award (2021), the Gaze Burvill Director General’s Award (2021), and five consecutive years as a House & Garden Top 50 Garden Design practice, with a House & Garden Top 25 ranking in 2026. The studio holds Spear’s Index Top Recommended status. Ann-Marie Powell FSGLD is a Fellow and the studio is a Registered Practice of the Society of Garden and Landscape Designers.

Leading projects end-to-end, from site analysis and concept development through to detailed design, specification, and on-site delivery
Acting as the primary point of contact for clients, managing relationships with professionalism, warmth, and confidence
Producing the full range of design documentation: concept presentations, masterplans, planting plans, construction drawings, and specifications
Collaborating closely with Ann-Marie, the studio team, architects, contractors, heritage experts, planning consultants, ecologists and specialist suppliers
Mentoring junior team members and contributing to the wider studio culture
Contributing to studio development, including design reviews and quality standards
