My border represents and oasis of calm and control in a place of chaos and conflict.
The concept is borrowed from 'Defiant Gardens';. A recent remembrance service brought the story of soldiers creating gardens to me.
The borders main feature is a willow wheel which is a representation of a gun carriage wheel pulled by horses. In each of the four corners is a standard tree planted in a supply box, these represent soldiers on sentry duty. The garden within is a taste of home and a solace for a community of soldiers sharing a space in a foreign land.
The borders colour scheme uses purple to represent animals in war and white to represent peace, in this case the peace of the garden.
