The Support Garden embodies the deeply personal journey of advance planning, reflecting themes of strength, trust, and care.
At its centre, a steel fireplace symbolises the donor of an Enduring Power of Attorney or directive maker of an Advance Healthcare Directive. This is surrounded by an elaborate steel pergola which supports the fireplace and represents the network of trust built between the donor, their attorney, and the people that surround them.
The garden is enclosed by three Amelanchier lamarckii ‘Juneberry’ specimens and a multitude of biodiverse planting on ground level and on green roofs. Each plant is chosen for its ecosystem supporting characteristics.
An upcycled corrugated steel wall behind the fireplace evokes ideas of time and resilience, reinforcing the value of preparing for the future. The central plaza is fitted with two bespoke chairs; the minimalist design evokes clarity of mind allowing for deep conversations on advance planning in a calm and serene atmosphere.
