The theme of the design is Komorebi, a Japanese word for when light pierces through a tree canopy and the gently swaying branches make shadows dance on the ground.
A wooden platform is surrounded by a canopy of trees, embracing and protecting you from the busy urban life beyond the garden. Looking up, dappled shade and shimmering lights create patterns all around. This is a moment to contemplate, a moment to remember.
The garden is inspired by the designer’s childhood memories of visiting forests in Nagano, Japan. Key components of the garden include a series of Betula trees and contrasting materials such as charcoal and bamboo.
