The 15 Minute City Garden is based on an urban planning model that aims to move towards a climate friendly solution where neighbourhoods have the necessities of modern life, including access to green space, jobs and essential services to be available within a 15 minute walk or cycle from home.
A graceful and relaxing space, the planting uses a broad mixture of textures. A short gravel pathway leads to a small seating area set beneath one of the specimen trees. A place for momentary quiet and reflection and a space which boosts wellbeing and encourages wildlife. Functionally, the planting helps to capture carbon from the atmosphere. Dried and cut bamboo poles act as slow-release rainwater storage vessels, with various heights and widths to echo the urban skyline. A birdbath encourages therapeutic interest with water for calm and a wildlife connection.
