Creating Connection: Slugs and snails, making friends with our foes!
Creating Connection: Slugs and snails, making friends with our foes!
Each layer of a natural ecosystem within our gardens allows them to have a vital biodiversity which includes connecting with parts of the ecosystems that we may not like and that can cause damage, eg. slugs and snails. This design hopes to be mindful of those delicate connections in the natural world, and rather than eliminate an often destructive garden pest, it seeks to prevent and minimise the damage done by planting specimens that slugs and snails choose not to munch on!
It is a playful interpretation of a serious gardening concern, exasperated by climate change. Features include: slug and snail proof planting, copper railings, surfaces that our gastropod friends avoid, and a pool that is another nod to the multitude of home remedies that we employ to prevent slugs and snails devouring our cherished plants
