A garden that showcases the creative direction we can utilise when designing for wildlife.
Water, trees and meadows with ornamental wild flowers will create habitats for all types of wildlife to thrive in a beautiful and practical space. Camera traps and technology will be used and integrated harmoniously within the garden so the visitors can see how we can enjoy and help to record and take part in conserving British wildlife.
The garden will learn from larger re-wilding projects inspired by the work of Protect the Andes who use native planting and technology to help conserve flora and fauna in the Colombian Andes, from rare orchids to the environmentally threatened Andean bear. It will celebrate the global importance of conserving nature be it on a grand scale or in our private gardens.
Visitors will experience a meandering pathway that leads to a bridge over a wildlife pond that sweeps across the garden. Across the bridge, they will find a deck that leads to a timber gazebo style structure where one can enjoy the garden from all angles and observe wildlife, read a book and entertain guests.
Homes for all types of wildlife will be prevalent from log piles, hedgehog homes, bird boxes and feeders; with nooks and crannies, water, and planting encouraging pollinators.
Outside the garden the visitors will also be able to see footage of Colombian and British wildlife captured by camera traps and soundscapes to show the enjoyment and importance of helping to record and encourage wildlife from our gardens to large re-wilding projects.
