C60 Carbon Garden: A Fusion of Science and Serenity

This garden is a space that celebrates the microscopic world.
If a microscopic world existed around the complex carbon atom C60, this work attempts to express that imaginary landscape as an immersive experience.

The inspiration for this garden came from a growing understanding of the importance of carbon on Earth and its scarcity and remarkable existence.

When we look at something very small and gaze closely at its details, we discover an astonishingly rich structure and beauty. C60 celebrates the microscopic beauty found within the geometric structure of carbon.
This garden offers an immersive experience centered around the complex carbon molecule C60 (buckminsterfullerene/commonly known as buckyball). These molecules possess unique spherical structures and properties and are used in a variety of fields, including drug delivery, solar cells, and lubricants.

The garden design incorporates the shape of carbon, expressing its presence through plants, carbonized wood, and hexagonal motifs.
This garden is designed as an immersive and introspective space where visitors can find peace of mind and engage in contemplation.
The plantings are designed to require minimal seasonal maintenance.

The spherical structure in the center of the garden accurately represents the C60 molecule, and visitors are guided along a hexagonal walkway, passing through a reflective pond, and into the interior of the C60 molecule.

The trees selected for the garden are those that display different appearances in each of the four seasons, bringing beauty to the garden throughout the year. Furthermore, the facility is designed to be barrier-free, making it a space where everyone can visit with peace of mind and enjoy a tranquil time.
