Representing Alzheimer’s Research UK, this garden highlights the changing dynamics in a family or friendship group when someone is diagnosed with dementia and the implications this has for each generation involved. A felled tree is sited across the front of the garden with young trees growing around it, creating a woodland opening into the garden. Access into the space is through a claustrophobic yarn-bombed walkway space that emphasises the confusion and disorientation people with dementia may have. From this walkway, there are views and access into a serene area of the garden. The garden incorporates native meadow species often thought of as weeds, which promote biodiversity in the garden. Large Scotch thistles and giant scabious add height to this relaxed woodland garden.
